Waste Audit Winners

Our school has finished two waste audits with the help of Green Action Centre Manitoba and we can be proud of our results. The first in late February had us opening every garbage bag from the first floor and sorting it into 6 categories. Armed with gloves and tarps, we dug through, categorized and weighed all of the smelly garbage created by staff and students. We were amazed by the amount of waste including the number of perfectly good sandwiches and fruit tossed for no reason. After a three week reduction campaign that included a trip to the recycling plant in the city we were able to reduce our daily waste by 17kg. I think we can all be proud.
