Green Action Centre Waste Audit

Today was the day! Green Action Centre arrived early this morning with Bo and Theresa pulling a giant suitcase filled with taps and gloves so that we could pick through our mountain of garbage collected over a 24 hour period. The kids were engaged and quite surprised and maybe disgusted not only by the smell of the rotting garbage but also by how much waste was created and thrown out for no good reason. Perfect apples and oranges, so many sandwiches and recycling that could have easily be sorted. We had 6 categories: recyclables, beverage containers, organics, reduce, reuse and landfill. The motivation is there to make change and take on other new initiatives. Pictures to follow!
